PEDESTRIAL CIRCUITS:

News : Chemin des Ecrivains “Romain Rolland” – 11km – Duration: 3h – Difficulty: easy.

Superb walk in the footsteps of the writer Romain Rolland, author of the book "Colas Breugnon" and many others. You will cross magnificent landscapes and discover the Nivernais canal, the Yonne river and some very picturesque places, such as the Trois Fontaines and its washhouse.

Saint-André Chapel : Circuit de Corbelin – 9km – Duration: 3h – Difficulty: easy.

Between nature and culture, this route will offer you magnificent views overlooking the village and will allow you to discover the Sauzay river and its washhouses… and of course the magnificent castle of Corbelin and the chapel of the same name, an essential heritage of the Haut Nivernais Val d'Yonne.

Chevroches : Between art and history of timber floating – 6,5km – Duration 1h30 – Difficulty: easy.

As soon as you arrive in Chevroches, you will appreciate this pretty little village overlooking the Nivernais canal and shaped by the limestone formerly quarried on site by the master quarrymen. It is then a step back in time where a superb observatory will allow you to discover the old fossilized meander of the Yonne.

Clamecy : Chemin des Ecrivains “Romain Rolland” – 9,5km – Duration: 2h30 – Difficulty: easy.

The eyes are drawn by the Yonne river, the float located on the Bethlehem bridge, as well as by Our Lady of Bethlehem Church in restoration since 2019. The climb to Sembert is stony. You will cross Sembert to take a descent to Armes. You will cross the Yonne, then the Nivernais canal, built to allow timber to be floated. Take advantage of your visit to Clamecy to discover the history of timber floating at the Museum of Art and History and ecomuseum of the Saint-Nicolas brotherhood.

Corvol-l'Orgueilleux : In the footsteps of “Mon Oncle Benjamin” – 11km – Duration: 2h30 – Difficulty: easy.

Corvol l'Orgueilleux is a village mentioned in Claude Tillier's famous novel "Mon Oncle Benjamin", a character interpreted in the cinema by Jacques Brel. The latter is friends with Doctor Minxit, a resident of Corvol-l'Orgueilleux. Beyond this literary and cinematographic reference, this route will also allow you to appreciate the surrounding countryside and the Sauzay river, dotted with mills.

menu : Circuit of the Chapelle de Tête Ronde – 10km – Duration: 3h – Difficulty: easy.

A magnificent panorama over the entire surrounding countryside... we breathe and we feel great! The Chapel of the Round Head, located on a hill, was restored in 1950. It is to Menou a bit of what the Sacré-Coeur is to Paris: a marvel! It contains the frescoes of the famous poster artist Charles Loupot, representing very stylized evangelical characters.

rix : Circuit de la Pierre-Fiche between history and legend – 16,5km – Duration: to be done over the day – Difficulty: easy.

This walk alternates paths in the undergrowth and motorized paths. You will appreciate the freshness of the Beuvron river, the built heritage, including several washhouses as well as the Châteauvert site (private property). At a place called Pierre-Fiche, a rock in the shape of a menhir rises from the ground with a flat stone called Pierre-qui-Vire or sacrificial stone next to it… quite a mystery.

Trucy-L'Orgueilleux : Circuit of the source of Champmorin – 9,5km – Duration: 3h – Difficulty: easy.

You will appreciate the view of the pretty village of Trucy-l'Orgueilleux, fitted out with a landscaped reading table. You will continue on your way towards the source of Champmorin, whose clear water of the stream shines under the rays of the sun. A route between undergrowth path and very pleasant motorized roads.

Varzy / Courcelles / Varzy : Val Sainte-Eugénie circuit – 14km – Duration: 3h30 – Difficulty: easy.

Circuit mostly in the woods, with beautiful panoramas and some old buildings to discover.

Varzy / Marcy / Varzy : Washhouse circuit – 16km – Duration: 4h – Difficulty: easy.

To discover: superb viewpoints over Montaubin and Varzy, a beautiful drinking trough and the Marcy washhouse.

Varzy / Oudan / Varzy : Circuit Saint-Lazare – 12km – Duration: 3h30 – Difficulty: easy.

A very pleasant circuit with magnificent viewpoints over the village of Oudan and the freshness of the Varzy pond. The chapel of Saint-Lazare (12th century), listed as a historic monument since 1931, is today an unmissable place of curiosity (outdoor visit only).

Varzy / Villiers-le-Sec / Varzy : Circuit of the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus – 15km – Duration: 3h30 – Difficulty: Medium (steep ascent).

A splendid walk that offers a magnificent 180° view of very varied landscapes. The climb towards the statue is quite "sporty", but follows a descent which opens up a beautiful panorama of Varzy. The statue of Sacré-Coeur-de-Jésus was erected in 1908 on the site of an old windmill, it dominates Mont Châtelet, which culminates at an altitude of 322m.

MTB ROUTES:

Breugnon : Marking n°1 green – 9km – Difficulty: easy (very sunny).

At the start, you will discover a nice view of the surrounding countryside and then go on motorable paths through the wheat fields. Initiation MTB circuit due to its low mileage and fairly flat profile. Circuit also suitable for electric hybrid bikes.

ouagne : Marking n°2 blue – 21km – Difficulty: easy to medium.

You will follow the Beuvron river and pass near the Château Vert. A nice route that you will appreciate for these very varied landscapes in the middle of the Nivernaise countryside.

Surgical : Basseville rock circuit – 23 km – Difficulty: easy to medium.

Discover the natural site of the rocks of Basseville and enjoy the varied landscapes with unobstructed 180° views. With the GuidiGO application, download the pedestrian route of geological discovery of the rocks – 1,7km trail – Departure from the parking lot of the rocks.

Varzy / Saint-André Chapel / Varzy : Marking n°5 red – 32km – Difficulty: easy to medium.

A magnificent circuit that winds along ridge lines and opens up superb 360° panoramas of the surrounding countryside. On the program: beautiful plunging views when you arrive in the village of Chapelle Saint-André with very good quality undergrowth paths, the Sauzay river and its washhouses.

Varzy / Oudan / Varzy : Marking n°6 blue – 30km – Difficulty: easy to medium (height difference of 554m).

Very nice view of the village of Oudan with its magnificent wash house. Superb landscapes to discover on the whole circuit, with "the icing on the cake": Saint-Lazare chapel, an essential part of the local heritage. Circuit with common routes with the GR 654 – Sentier de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle.

Varzy / Parigny-la-Rose / Marcy / Varzy : Marking n°4 red – 33km – Difficulty: easy to medium.

A superb circuit thanks to ridge paths allowing 360° views.
