The Haut Nivernais is full of resources! Marie proves it to us once again by going this afternoon to Varzy and its surroundings.
Switch to Poifond horse farm for a warm welcome:

As soon as she arrives, Marie is greeted by Mélinda's sheepdog, the owner of the place, and is very friendly... it's off to explore the farm, where some animals are already joining they.

"You have beautiful eyes, you know", the funny goatee Alphonse also welcomes him... in his own way!

Little by little, the whole menagerie passes in front of us and comes out to frolic outside. Babe, the sow, is more awesome than mean. She is the darling and mascot of the place! She loves following Mélinda wherever she goes and putting on a show, as Marie can see.

A few more hugs and the two young women set off to see the horses.

In the meadow, it is the horses that come to meet Marie in search of caresses.

Poifond horse farm welcomes you to its 13 hectares of meadows and offers many services: walks and group or private lessons, breaking in horses, walks in hand (Mélinda prepares a pony for you and you walk independently with your child), meeting with animals of the farm, birthday can be organized at the estate, follow-up of people with disabilities... Do not hesitate to inquire!

Moment of relaxation under the trees. The horses are always there to greet us and play the curious! The place is a great setting, where you can rub shoulders with many four-legged friends where we could stay for hours.

Nevertheless, he will have to resume his journey: “Farewell, calf, cow, pig, brood! Other types of encounters await Marie, in the heart of the village of Varzy.

visit the Auguste Grasset Museum in Varzy:

Marie resumes her journey towards Varzy and decides to explore the Auguste Grasset municipal museum.

On her way, she meets pilgrims from Santiago de Compostela, who ask her for some information on the shops and accommodation available.

Marie shows them the road: “behind you, about 900m away is the Moulin Naudin municipal campsite. In the direction of the city center, you will find an ATM and shops including a bakery and a mini-market”.

It is Wednesday, Marie specifies: “the weekly market in Varzy is held every Thursday morning on the Place du Marché. You can do some shopping there before continuing your journey. »

Marie also resumes her journey, heading to the museum:

Marie arrives in the luminous reception of the site. To her right, the bust of Auguste Grasset, the compulsive collector at the origin of all these abundant collections, seems to stare her down.

The former Nivernais notable brought together around 3500 objects and works, in the third quarter of the 19th century. He eventually settled in Varzy in 1862 and became curator of the Varzy museum and library.

It is thus part of her former cabinet of curiosities that Marie is about to discover...

She begins by rushing into the old cellars of the site, where several atypical objects await her. In particular, she can admire a set ofarmes and ornaments from the islands of the South Pacific, or even, in the vaulted cellar at the back, Egyptian sarcophagi.

She goes through the museum, going from discovery to discovery: fine arts, earthenware... Anyone can find something to satisfy their tastes in terms of artistic styles. In particular, she enters the room devoted to musical instruments… A wonderful presentation – visual and sound – to acquire new knowledge.

Marie leaves, delighted. This visit to the Auguste Grasset museum made him want to go at the Romain Rolland Museum of Art and History in Clamecy, for other discoveries in the history of Haut Nivernais.
