Clamecy, around the water (available in English and German) – (2h): Clamecy, at the gates of the Morvan, in the heart of the Escale Flottage of the Nivernais canal, was built on a rocky outcrop at the confluence of two rivers, the Yonne and Le Beuvron, hence its name “Little Venice of Nivernaise” by the writer Romain Rolland. This 2,2 km walk will take you through the districts of Bethléem and Le Beuvron to help you discover Clamecy and its past as the former capital of timber floating.
Varzy, a coveted old fortified city (1h30) : Varzy, today a small picturesque town in the Haut Nivernais, was once the object of all the desires of the bishops of Auxerre. A rich historical past remains, come quickly to discover it! – Distance: 1,2km – Departure: Les Promenades car park.
Nature trail of geological discovery of the rocks of Basseville (1h30) : in images and very interesting comments, GuidiGO tells you the geological history of the rocks, along a 1,7km pedestrian route (departure from the parking lot of the rocks, located between Clamecy and Surgy). The site is also a climbing "spot" with routes ranging from 15 to 40 meters and a landmark for mountain bike enthusiasts : an ideal site for nature lovers!
