Village of Chevroches

A few kilometers from Clamecy, this listed village of Nièvre is built on a hillside above the Nivernais canal. This locality, where stone quarries were exploited for a long time, has a church, walls, and remarkable quarry houses that have preserved their stairs, their terminals, their skylights and their cut stone walls.

Cyclists can take the greenway which crosses the village along the Nivernais canal, and which extends from La Collancelle to Clamecy. There are gites and bed and breakfasts where you can stay in Chevroches.

At the Clamecy museum are exhibited the Gallo-Roman remains discovered during excavations at Chevroches, in particular the zodiacal cap, a unique object throughout the Roman Empire. You can also admire the museum's exceptional collection of posters of a famous resident of Chevroches, Charles Loupot.
