Collegiate Saint-Martin de Clamecy

Saint-Martin collegiate church has a vessel built from the 1497th century in Burgundian Gothic, and a tower built from 1515 to 1515 in Flamboyant Gothic. At the end of this work, in XNUMX, the western facade was redesigned and provided with a porch, closed with carved wooden doors from the Renaissance period.

Considered for a long time as one of the jewels of Burgundian Gothic art, it appeared on the first list of classified monuments in 1840. In the XNUMXth century, after visits by Prosper Mérimée and Viollet-le-Duc, major restoration work have been made, without causing the monument to lose its authenticity.
