Hyppolyte Marie-Davy

Hippolyte Marié-Davy was born in 1820 and died in 1893.

Physicist, director of the Observatory of Montsouris from 1873 to 1887. His research on terrestrial magnetism and the movements of the atmosphere are at the origin of our current meteorology. He is also the inventor of a mercury bisulphate battery that bears his name.
